I took this video of Solu preparing Okra by cutting off the top and I thought it illustrated some of the main advantages of food preparation with young children.

  2. Developing a sense of order – a place for everything and everything in its place

  4. Enriching Vocabulary
  5. Math preparation – observing and comparing dimensions like length, shape etc.
  6. Preparation for science and experiments- observing qualities and reactions to gravity
  7. Developing ability to start and finish a task
  8. Developing observation skills
  9. Strengthening eye hand coordination
  10. Developing practical life skills
