Happy New Month and a Child Friendly Bread Recipe

Hi there! Happy May to you! It’s worker’s day here in Nigeria and I’ve been getting a little rest and also catching up on some work. Can you believe it’s the fifth month of the year already? I can! If you follow me on Instagram, then you know that April was a very exciting month for me. I got appointed to the board of directors of the AMI. It was very exciting and significant for me to be the first African on the board. I am honoured to be called open to support Dr. Montessori’s work in this way and feel very positive about the direction of the AMI as expressed in it’s strategic goals. I attended the AGM (Annual General Meeting) in Amsterdam and left inspired by all the great work happening around the world.

I got to meet Simone of the Montessori Notebook and also saw my friends Zoe (more like sister) of Sage Montessori and Sarah Moudry of the Studio June amongst others. It was truly lovely and even though I came home and got really sick, I was thankful for the opportunity  If you missed it, here’s a video of my speech after the AMI membership approved my nomination.

The other exciting events in April had to do with my school, Fruitful Orchard Montessori. We concluded our first term and saw the children adapt beautifully to the environment. We made a promotional video that gives a glimpse into our children’s house (3-6). Here it is for your viewing pleasure

We also set up the toddler community and started accepting children. Here are some pictures of the toddler community.

As you can see, April was a very busy month… lots of work but also lots of results and things to celebrate. I am hoping for a calmer May. I am working on two new projects which I am excited to unveil soon. I also have more Essence of Montessori Parenting interviews the share with you. The next one will be from Jasmine of Three Minute Montessori. I am excited to share it with you. With these interviews, I hope to show that Montessori is mostly about our view of, and attitude towards the child. I hope that you find them helpful. There’s so much good advice in each one so I suggest just trying to find one or two things in each one that you can apply to your parenting.  Jasmine really gets this and it comes through in her interview. I will be posting it tomorrow so come back!

Before I go, I wanted to share a bread recipe that we discovered last month and have loved using both at home and in school. I made a visual recipe that you can use with your child(red).  Here it is.

You can read more posts about cooking with children, benefits and considerations here. I Hope you have a wonderful month ahead.
