Craft with Kids: Valentine’s day Garland

Here’s a quick valentine’s day craft to do with children. A child of 4-5 years old or older can probably do this independently while you would need to do this with a younger child.

Draw some lines on your paper to serve as cut lines.

Now cut the paper into strips using a scissors or a paper cutter.

A paper cutter is faster if you have one. Also safe for a younger child

Decide what glue works best for you. A glue stick is probably easiest for younger children but it works best on very light paper*If using liquid glue, I suggest putting a small amount in a small container and providing a paintbrush

Repeat the previous steps with a different colored paper.*Use containers to hold the strip of papers. Also, if you do not have colored paper handy, the child can paint, color or decorate plain white paper.

Pass a different colored strip of paper through the first ring and repeat glue and stick process*You can use the same colored paper or create any pattern you want. There is no right or wrong pattern

Continue until you run out of paper or the garland is as long as you want. What's great is that you can always come back and add to the garland to make it longer.

Hang up your garland and enjoy the reminder of love!More importantly, your child(ren) has contributed to the beauty of your home thus showing love.

*Note that I used a tray for the gluing. It cost a dollar (160 naira) and is a great way to define the workspace and minimize any mess. You can also tape old newspapers to the workspace.  Also use containers for the strips of paper. I hope you try this easy craft which can be done with things you already have around the house.

Live a GoodLife!
